Conner’s Corner
July 30, 2009
Tanya contacted me about two months ago regarding little Conner’s birthday party. He turned ONE and she wanted some natural family pics of their family as well as some of Conner’s friends. Tanya and Lyle moved from Upington to the Cape about a year ago.
It’s a small world and after some chatting we realized I did a few of their friend’s weddings as well. Tanya is a photographer herself and it was a compliment that she asked me to do their shoot. Although weddings can be stressful and fast paced, you can to a degree predict what’s going to happen. With kids…whoa. No chance!
I enjoyed the party almost as much as Conner and his two little sidekicks!

Watching the rain – 11 July 2009
July 30, 2009
Lydia and Rainier got married in Malmesbury on the 11 July. Since it was in the middle of the winter we had typical rain clouds hanging around all day. It was bucketing down
on the Friday before the wedding and only stopped raining the morning of the wedding and started again once we were inside the reception after photos
Luckily this allowed for a nice family tradition (all 4 sisters’ weddings the coupple arrived with grandpa’s own horses)
Some interesting facts:
Rainier and Lydia got married almost on to the day that we would have been together for 5 years
Lydia did her own make up ,as well as all the bride girls (She is a beauty Therapist)
Rainer’s suit and Lydia’s dress were secrete and matched perfectly
Although rain is always unwanted at weddings the upside is normally soft lighting all around. With their shoot on a farm we got some amazing texture shots.

Sunny in winter – 4th July 2009
July 30, 2009
Winter is traditionally very quiet in the wedding industry. It was a nice difference to have two winter weddings in the middle of July
Malannie and Brent got married at Blaauwklippen on the 4th of July. If they ever moved to the USA their annerversarie would at always be on a public holiday (Independance day). They planned a proper black and white winter wedding but was it was 23 degrees with sunny skies!
Malannie is graphic designer en Brent a sound engineer. They have been friends since high school and a couple for the last three years. You could really feel their special bond and I think they are going to have a very happy life together.
On the shoot they were great fun and a stunning couple to work with.
Technically I enjoyed their couple shoot as we had some amazing saturted colors and textures in the winter vineyards.
Its been 7 weeks since my previous wedding and I soon realised how much I missed it.
